HIGH PAY INVESTIAGED BY CABLE
The Government launched a consultation during July into excessive executive pay and bonuses. Vince Cable, business secretary, announced the decision during a speech to the Association of British Insurers in June. The consultation will propose tougher provisions on disclosure of executive pay and its link to company performance.
NICs COST JOBS
Recent research has shown that a third of small business owners would hire more staff if National Insurance Contributions were reduced for the first six months of employment. The Federation of Small Businesses’ survey of more than 1,700 owners said NICs stood in the way of growth. More than one in ten said extending the NICs holiday scheme would also be an incentive.
